Come To My Window

Integrating architectural elements into your home decor

Salvaged windows are one of the easiest and most affordable ways to integrate architectural elements into your home decor.

This window was salvaged from a historic church. The glass was removed and replaced with old mirror. We hung it outside on the brick wall of a covered patio. It lets in the reflection of the pool and opens up the space while softening the large brick wall.

Using stained glass windows as window treatments is a great way to “think outside the box” when it comes to windows. The light coming thru the stained glass is a truly beautiful way to add color and style to any room. Each stained glass window is a piece of true artistry.

Hand painting on the glass of an old window is another way to create a customized look in a room. This window is used in a sports themed boys bedroom, painted with the school name and mascot. Such a great keepsake and so unique.

Another paint technique for windows; paint the glass with chalkboard paint… instant vintage framed chalkboard.

My favorite way to use old wood window sashes is turn them into picuture frames. A single pane vintage window makes a gorgeous frame for a portrait of your family or kids. A multi paned window sash is a great way to display a group of photos from a vacation or pictures of your children.

You can take the pictures and window sash to your local frame shop and they will mount the pictures and put a back on the window for a minimal charge. Affordable, vintage and personal. Isn’t that what we are trying to achieve?

This weeks assignment….Show us photos of your projects. What creative things have you done with old windows?

Please post photos on our wall so we can all learn from each other.
